from Germany attended The Book Of Mormon on June 20, 2013 Chicago, IL, United States of America

It was awesome indeed. My wife and I attended a hilarious show. I have been working and writing about musicals for ages and am absolutely happy and grateful to have enjoyed such a good show. Quite astonishing that the difficult topic met with such appreciation and tolerance.Choreography, voices and character development worked pretty well.

Venue: We have been sitting nearly on top of the audience with good view onto the stage. Climbing up and down was an adventure since railing was not sufficient.

The Book Of Mormon

The Book of Mormon opened on Broadway in March 2011 and has already become one of the most popular shows in town. Thanks to the collaborative writing talents of Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, religious satire and clever musical numbers take a humorous look at Mormonism, and all organized religions.

Parker and Stone, co-creators of the renowned cartoon South Park, have stamped the lively script with the quick wit they are famed for, whilst giving the concept of faith its due credit. It took seven years to get the show from inception to stage but it has certainly been worth the wait. With no less than 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon has earned its reputation as one of the smartest shows on Broadway.

The musical follows two young Mormon missionaries on their journey from Salt Lake City to a remote village in Northern Uganda. There
they attempt to share with the locals The Book of Mormon - their church’s core scripture. The innocent missionaries are quite the contrast with the brutal warlord who seeks to gain control of the rural village. However, the intrepid travellers soon find that the locals have more to contend with than religion, with the issues of poverty, famine, war and AIDS on their minds.
